RBI - Reserve Bank Of India

RBI was established on April 1, 1935 and was nationalized in 1949. Its head office is in Mumbai. Present Governor of RBI is “Raghuram Govind Rajan”. He is 23^rd Governor of RBI

Four Deputy Governors:

1.      H R Khan.

2.      Urjit Patel.

3.      Anand Sinha.

4.      K C Chakrabarty.

Its functions:

1. Act as banker to government.

2. Issues currency notes.

3. Acts as banker’s bank.

4. Maintains foreign exchange reserves.

5. Maintains CRR and SLR.
